Dolphin IT Solutions is a Microsoft platform focussed development and consultancy business based in Guildford, Surrey. We currently have a small team of developers and consultants and do all our development in house. We are a full IT project lifecycle delivery company who puts quality of service to clients at the top of our priorities.
Due to a strong period of new sales and client engagement we are re-investing in the business development growth and as part of that investment we need to increase the number support technicians.
Brief job description:
Estio Training have an exciting new opportunity for a software development apprentice with Dolphin IT Solutions, a Digital Consultancy based in Guildford.
Job Description:
We win a great deal of our business through repeat work from referrals. As such our strategy is to put the clients needs and expectations of service at the forefront of everything we do. This role will be a client facing and backend development role, providing application support for tickets that are logged through our helpdesk on our low code development platform, the scope of which can vary greatly.
Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:
- Talk clients through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the phone, to help resolve issues.
- Troubleshoot system and application problems, diagnosing and solving issues.
- Provide support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports.
- Follow diagrams and written instructions to design and build solutions on our low code platform.
- Support the roll-out of new applications.
- Respond within agreed time limits to support issues.
- Work continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate).
- Prioritise and manage many open cases at one time.
- Rapidly establish a good working relationship with customers and other professionals, such as software developers.
- Training will be provided on the low code solution and a period of self-help and practice will be required.
- Keep up to date with system enhancements and new features.
- Testing, bug fix and continuous improvement of solutions.
Qualifications:
5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)
Skills Required:
- Good team player and able to work well unsupervised.
- A strong focus on quality assurance.
- Understanding of the Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to progress your own skills as well as learn new ones.
- Ability to write plans and procedures.
Personal qualities:
- Good personable skills and an excellent communicator.
- Good timekeeper and able to prioritise tasks efficiently.
- Flexible and adaptable to change.
- Desire to self-train and work on additional training would be a positive trait for this role.

Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Software Development Technician, with training in how to:
- Implement secure code in appropriate languages of different types.
- Support the communication of software solutions and ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Conduct a range of test types.
- Build scripts in line with work instructions for deployment into the relevant environment.
- Design simple software solutions to meet your requirements using tools and techniques.
