Estio Training have an exciting new opportunity for a Network Engineer Apprentice with Daappa Ltd, a Software Development company based in London.

Job Description:

  • Networking: Understanding of networking principles and eagerness to learn and apply skills in managed cloud environments including Azure, OVH, and AWS, alongside Citrix architecture.
  • Database Administration: Familiarity with database concepts, especially MS SQL Server, and an interest in developing administration skills. Openness to exploring cloud-based database management and services provided by Azure, AWS, and other cloud platforms.
  • Microsoft/Email Administration: Proficiency with MS Office suite and a general understanding of email administration principles, including MS Outlook. Interest in cloud-based productivity tools and services, particularly those offered by Microsoft Azure and Office 365.
  • Infrastructure and Hardware: Basic understanding of infrastructure requirements with a desire to learn about hardware management, including servers, routers, switches, and firewalls, as well as cloud infrastructure services provided by Azure, OVH, and AWS.
  • Virtualisation in technologies, with a focus on Azure VMs, VMWare ESXi, and exploring virtualisation solutions offered by AWS and OVH.
  • The candidate We are seeking an enthusiastic Network Engineer Apprentice to join our global IT services (ITS) team. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals passionate about technology and eager to embark on a learning journey towards becoming a skilled network engineer at a small and friendly financial technology (fintech) company. Through the Estio Level 4 Network Engineer apprenticeship, you will gain hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge in a wide range of technical areas, preparing you for a rewarding career supporting daappa’s infrastructure and that of its financial services clientele. This would be a great opportunity for an ambitious candidate looking to break into the fintech industry, or perhaps is frustrated with lack of progress and responsibility in their current organisation. This role comes with a decent salary and benefit package and a hybrid role based in a pleasant modern office in a prime location in the City of London.

What we need:

  • Educational Background: Enrolment in or completion of a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field is preferred, however all candidates currently pursuing relevant technical certifications or equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Technical Foundations: Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Windows/Server environments, with a keen interest in deepening technical expertise. Prior exposure to networking concepts and a willingness to pursue formal training (e.g., Cisco CCNA, Microsoft certifications).

Great to have:

  • Programming Skills: An advantage to have or a willingness to learn SQL, .NET.
  • Project Management: Exposure to project management principles, particularly in a technical or IT context, is beneficial.
  • Third-Party IT Service Providers: Openness to gaining experience working with or for thirdparty IT service providers.
  • Compliance and Standards: An interest in understanding and applying ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 policies and procedures.
  • Tools and Software: Curiosity about Microsoft Visual Studio, GIT hub, and system performance management tools.

General Experience/Attributes:

  • 1-2 years in a similar role.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • The working language is English, and our team and clients are international.
  • Demonstrates a proactive attitude towards learning and personal development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a remote team and independently when required.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Comfortable with the possibility of travel between development centres and to client sites as needed.

Qualifications:

5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)

Future prospects:

The role offers a permanent role upon completion of the apprenticeship depending on performance.

  • Install, configure and test network components, including optimisation and maintenance.
  • Investigate, identify and resolve technical performance issues in networks.
  • Apply the appropriate tools and techniques when securely operating and testing Networks.
  • Acquire and analyse network performance data to monitor network activity.
