Estio Training have an exciting new opportunity for a Network Engineer (Apprentice) with Digital Communications Network Solutions Ltd, a telecoms, IT and security provider based in West Sussex.

Job Description:

The role requires the candidate to carry out technical analysis, installation, configuration and support of telecoms, IT and CCTV devices, infrastructure and applications, and will be required to act as the technical lead for projects to agreed technical standards.

Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:

This role offers a wide range of responsibilities, from providing technical support to customers, to planning and implementing telecoms, IT and CCTV networks.

You will support service delivery by managing and maintaining the telecoms & IT infrastructure including the firewalls, switches and load balancers.

We are seeking individuals with the following skill set:

  • Establishing and maintaining IT and digital communications infrastructure, such as wireless access points or LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN networks including setting up and maintaining VPN connections, routers and switches.
  • Providing technical support and assistance to clients. Experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices is beneficial. This includes working with clients to establish and maintain software, such as email, user logins and passwords, setting up new employees with company email accounts and providing them with access to the network, as well as troubleshooting for existing employees.
  • Experience with IP, VOIP and cloud-based phone systems, and be able to provide user training to clients.
  • Setting up and deploying of IP CCTV system and cabling such as Hikvision and Dahua systems.
  • Provide technical support to end-users for hardware, software, and network-related issues. Experience with hardware troubleshooting is beneficial.
  • Able to install, configure and troubleshoot computer systems, printers, and implement Cat 5e/ Cat 6e cabling, including termination and fault finding.

Qualifications:

5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)

Skills Required:

  • Demonstrates fundamental basic knowledge and understanding in 2 or more of the following areas: IP, Data, and Transmission, Voice Switching, WAN /LAN technology and/or networking equipment.
  • Experience working at a technical level providing Telecoms or IT support is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and find solutions to practical problem.
  • Able to work independently as required.
  • Good written/spoken English.

Future prospects:

The role offers a permanent role upon completion of the apprenticeship depending on performance.

There is a real family-feel to this business, however the company are planning to scale massively in the next 5 years, so you could get in before the company expands massively!

  • Install, configure and test network components, including optimisation and maintenance.
  • Investigate, identify and resolve technical performance issues in networks.
  • Apply the appropriate tools and techniques when securely operating and testing Networks.
  • Acquire and analyse network performance data to monitor network activity.
