Estio Training have an exciting new opportunity for an IT Technician Apprentice with Tommytech Ltd, a Tech repair specialist based in West London.

Job Description:

The IT Technician position at our company offers a unique opportunity to learn directly from our experienced senior technicians. The role encompasses mastering the art of accurately diagnosing various devices and performing basic repairs. As proficiency is gained, the scope of responsibilities will expand to include more advanced repair techniques. This position is ideal for individuals eager to develop their technical skills and advance in the field of device repair.

Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:

  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area, prepared for tasks ahead.
  • Diagnosing simple faults, and appropriately escalating unresolved issues through the correct channels.
  • Performing repairs on a variety of devices, with a protocol for escalating tasks beyond your current skill level.
  • Taking meticulous care of customer devices to ensure they are returned in the same or better condition than when received.
  • Demonstrating politeness and courtesy to all staff and customers, fostering a positive and professional work environment.

Qualifications:

5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)

Skills Required:

While we do not require a specific set of technical skills for this learning role, possessing some of the following skills would be beneficial:

  • Ability to diagnose simple faults on devices such as mobile phones and laptops.
  • Competence in safely using screwdrivers and opening tools.
  • Knowledge of diagnosing software faults, along with the ability to install and uninstall software on Windows and Mac devices.
  • Ability to identify viruses/malware, remove them effectively, and secure the device thereafter.
  • Familiarity with identifying different components of a laptop/PC, such as RAM, HDD, SSD, and CPU.

Future prospects:

The role offers a permanent role upon completion of the apprenticeship depending on performance.

Training to be provided:

Estio apprenticeship training programmes are delivered virtually by our fully qualified and industry experienced training team. Using their expert knowledge, we’ve purposefully built our programmes around the real-world use of modern technology, so that the skills we create can be directly applied in the workplace.

Throughout the apprenticeship learners receive coaching, help and guidance from a dedicated team who are there to ensure they get the most from their work experience.

Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Information Communications Technician, with training in how to:

  • Efficiently operate and control your ICT infrastructure – physical or virtual hardware, software, network services and data storage.
  • Use infrastructure management tools to automate the provisioning, testing, deployment and monitoring of infrastructure components.
  • Prioritise systems support tasks and monitor and maintaining system performance
  • Maintain regulatory, legal and professional standards.
  • Support the information systems needs for your business.
