About the Company:

IT Wiser are looking for a keen and ambitious IT apprentice to join the team. The ideal person will be answering client calls and helping to resolve issues with client systems. Training will be provided as well as access to a variety of different systems to learn.

Role Summary:

Daily routines will be allocated which include tasks like checking backups and antivirus are up to date. You will learn to use and be required to use a ticketing timesheet system to keep a log of issues.

This apprenticeship provides an excellent opportunity to break into IT and Cyber Security, as you will gain experience with a variety of IT systems such as servers, desktops, routers and learning how to secure and support them. As you progress you will be given more responsibilities and roles within the team to grow your skill set in this growing area of business.

You may be required to visit client sites from time to time so should have your own transport and Full UK driving license. You will also be required to do general office duties from time to time.

Key Responsibilities:

As an IT Support Technician, you will:

  • Providing IT support to clients on-site and remotely and answering client queries.
  • Keeping systems secure and up to date.
  • Using ticketing systems to keep a log of issues and updating documentation.
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Monitoring critical systems such as backup systems and antivirus systems.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Requirements: 5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent, including English Language and Maths.

Skills Required:

The preferred candidate will have some experience with any of the following:

  • Microsoft Office 365.
  • Microsoft Windows 10 & 1.
  • Windows Server 2012/2016/2019/2022.
  • Good understanding of troubleshooting skills and networking concepts such as DNS, DHCP and WINS.
  • Knowledge of android and iOS smart phones.
  • PC hardware components & building/repairing PCs.
  • Understanding of backups and disaster recovery systems.

Personal Qualities:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have your own transport and a full UK driving license
  • Interest in IT (and IT security), including hobbies and/or education within IT.
  • Have at least a C (or equivalent) in English and Maths and have excellent communication skills.
  • Have a ‘can do’ attitude and be confident to ask for help and guidance. You should be self-motivated to learn and find resolutions to problems.
  • You should be able to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to handle customers queries with empathy and tact.

Future Prospects:

This role offers the potential for a permanent position upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, contingent on performance.

Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Information Communications Technician, with training in how to:

  • Efficiently operate and control your ICT infrastructure – physical or virtual hardware, software, network services and data storage.
  • Use infrastructure management tools to automate the provisioning, testing, deployment and monitoring of infrastructure components.
  • Prioritise systems support tasks and monitor and maintaining system performance
  • Maintain regulatory, legal and professional standards.
  • Support the information systems needs for your business.
