Job Description:
Estio Training is thrilled to offer a new opportunity for an IT Support Engineer Apprentice for a premier supplier of alarm monitoring systems based in York.
Role Summary:
The vacancy will initially involve training in all the aspects of a software supplier from the writing of the code, through testing, to the distribution and support of the application.
Key Responsibilities:
As an IT Support Apprentice your main roles and responsibilities will include:
Initially the candidate will undergo a mixture of training and on the job experience.
The position is based solely in the support department but will liaise with the development department.
Key responsibilities will be:
- Interface directly with our customers in a professional and courteous manner.
- Provide support on a product which monitors life and property.
- Integrate into an established team of IT professionals.
- As well as working on the first line support desk, the candidate may assist in internal infrastructure work and manage projects.
- The candidate will need to be someone who is capable of following a contract to supply a new Sentinel system and meet each requirement in that project to install the system, configure it to meet their requirements, train their users and eventually go live.
Qualifications:
- Educational Requirements: Grade 4/5 or above in English & Maths GCSE
Skills Required:
- Windows or Linux operating systems
- SQL Databases
- Networks
- Virtualisation
- Hardware building and configuration
- Application Support
Personal Qualities:
- Personable and intelligent.
- The candidate must be able to communicate clearly with his/her colleagues and be capable of dealing with sometimes quite technically challenging and complex problems.

- Holiday entitlement starts at 31 days but that includes bank holidays. They can choose to work a bank holiday, and we give the equivalent back in lieu time.

- Prioritise systems support tasks and monitor and maintaining system performance
