Estio Training have an exciting new opportunity for an IT Service Desk Apprentice with NETbuilder, an IT Services company based in Wigan.

Job Description:

We are currently looking for an IT Service Desk Apprentice for our Northwest England office.  The position offers the successful candidate the chance to develop their IT career in a dynamic, fast paced environment and provides access to training on various IT systems including cyber security, Windows/Linux OS, virtualisation, networking and digital signage.

The service desk provides services and support to a number of clients and internal departments and takes responsibility for the day-to-day operations and support across the IT infrastructure.

Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:

  • Providing first line telephone, email and face-to-face support to users.
  • Escalating IT issues to other members of the IT service team as appropriate.
  • Logging and ongoing management of tickets using the ticketing system.
  • Providing technical support to clients and internal departments for a wide range of hardware and software.
  • Providing a high level of customer service and resolution management.
  • Ensuring that all users are kept informed of the status and progress of their tickets.
  • Involvement in project work including hardware and software build and configuration.
  • Creating and updating self-help and knowledge base articles.

Qualifications:

5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)

Skills Required:

  • A genuine interest in IT and providing IT support.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Personal qualities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good self-organisational capabilities with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Future prospects:

The role offers a permanent role upon completion of the apprenticeship depending on performance.

Training to be provided:

Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Information Communications Technician, with training in how to:

  • Efficiently operate and control your ICT infrastructure – physical or virtual hardware, software, network services and data storage.
  • Use infrastructure management tools to automate the provisioning, testing, deployment and monitoring of infrastructure components.
  • Prioritise systems support tasks and monitor and maintaining system performance
  • Maintain regulatory, legal and professional standards.
  • Support the information systems needs for your business.
