Brief job description:
An opportunity has arisen for a talented IT Service Desk Apprentice to become part of a newly formed internal IT Service Desk function in a well-established business.
Job Description:
As an IT Service Desk Apprentice, you will be the first point of contact for users seeking technical assistance within the business. You will provide support and troubleshooting services related to computer systems, hardware, and software issues along with building and provisioning IT hardware for new starters and device replacements. Your role is crucial in ensuring efficient and effective resolution of IT-related problems to minimise downtime and maintain productivity across the organisation. BES Group will also support your achievement of a Level 3 ICT provided by an industry leading apprenticeship programme.
Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:
- Assist in providing technical support to clients via phone, email, or in-person.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software issues reported by clients.
- Escalate complex technical issues to senior members of the team for resolution.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software components.
- Assist in the implementation of IT projects, such as system upgrades and migrations.
- Document support activities, including resolutions and troubleshooting steps.
- Provide training and support to clients on the use of IT systems and applications.
- Stay updated on the latest technologies and industry trends to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)
Skills Required:
- Basic understanding of Business IT.
- GCSE in IT, Computing Science or Engineering would be preferred.
Personal qualities:
- Proactive with excellent problem-solving skills to ensure timely delivery of key tasks.
- Logical and creative thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and to take responsibility.
- Ability to work with a range of internal and external people.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of situations and to a diverse range of internal stakeholders.

Training to be provided:

Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Information Communications Technician, with training in how to:
- Efficiently operate and control your ICT infrastructure – physical or virtual hardware, software, network services and data storage.
- Use infrastructure management tools to automate the provisioning, testing, deployment and monitoring of infrastructure components.
- Prioritise systems support tasks and monitor and maintaining system performance
- Maintain regulatory, legal and professional standards.
- Support the information systems needs for your business.
