We constantly develop our applications and regularly provide production upgrades. New instances are required regularly to new clients as well as for testing and R&D projects. Reliable, repeatable deployment is paramount as is the need to test and monitor continuously to ensure service quality levels are maintained.

Brief Description:
Estio Training have an exciting new opportunity for a DevOps Engineer with Geologix, a Software Company based in Norwich.

We are looking for a DevOps engineer that will be tasked with maintaining the current infrastructure as well as improving and implementing new automation programmes that enable the rapid and reliable delivery of our system. This also includes maintaining and improving the monitoring tools and feedback workflows that the operations team use to react to customer incidents and behavioural trends. You will also be part of a support team, applying your technical and troubleshooting skills to fix issues and implement outside-the-box solutions for production instances.

Job description:
We are looking for a DevOps engineer that will be tasked with maintaining the current infrastructure as well as improving and implementing new automation programmes that enable the rapid and reliable delivery of our system. You will also be part of a support team, applying your technical and troubleshooting skills to fix issues and implement outside-the-box solutions for production instances.

Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:

• Create and manage our production cloud infrastructure predominantly on AWS.
• Deploy our solution to production environments ready for configuration by the Operations team.
• Maintain and improve system monitoring and notifications (alerts) that deliver to platforms such as MS Teams and mobile devices.
• Monitor latency, traffic, connectivity and errors, identify issues and work with the development and operations team to implement solutions to meet service level objectives.

•Automate new instance testing for production servers.
• Be part of the design and implementation for Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery solutions in our production environment.
• Administer the rollback pathway for solution upgrades to existing instances and administer server back-up programmes.
• Apply a security-first mentality, continuously assessing and monitoring security issues and remediation.

• Support the development team with the sister testing infrastructure and its relevance with production environments.
• Be a part of the support team, assisting the operations team with technical problems.
• Assist with other DevOps tasks as required.

Qualifications:
• 5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)
Preferred Personal Skills (Not Essential)
• 2+ years of working experience
• College qualification or higher in Computer Science or similar discipline
• Excellent practical knowledge of networks fundamentals, TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, DHCP, Firewalls etc
• Strong knowledge of AWS or similar modern cloud infrastructure providers
• Strong experience implementing and administering load balancing and reverse proxy’s (NGINX)
• Experience administering and deploying development CI/CD tools (Jira, Jenkins, Git, Terraform)
• Experience with infrastructure scripting solutions such as PowerShell
• Significant experience with Windows and Linux operating system environments
• Familiar with container orchestration services such as Docker

Training to be provided:
The Estio Training programme gives young people the opportunity to get hands on experience in the IT industry whilst still employed in a real paid job with no cost or debt.
Learners will receive six weeks of intensive training. Whilst in the workplace, apprentices will also receive continual coaching, help and guidance from a dedicated Skills Development Coach who will be there to ensure that they get the most from their work experience.

This apprenticeship will give you a Level 4 DevOps Engineer Standard with training in areas such as:
• Coding, Scripting and Automated Testing
• Cloud Platforms (including AWS and Azure)
• Source Control using Git
• Database selection and best practice
• System Security

Some of these modules will include an option to take an examination in order to receive a professional certificate.
