Estio Training is thrilled to offer a new opportunity for a Remote Working Information’s Communications Technician Apprentice.
Job Summary:
As an apprentice infrastructure technician, you will be developing your own capabilities and progress toward becoming a capable infrastructure engineer.
You will achieve this by attending the provided training and working with our experienced engineers to gain practical experience.

You will achieve this by attending the provided training and working with our experienced engineers to gain practical experience.
You will be expected to fulfil following duties under supervision:
- Complete the apprenticeship training course and associated assignments provided by the selected training provider.
- Support client organisations implement, configure and maintain assets in their device, software, data, user and network inventories.
- Support client organisations identify and resolve security threats and vulnerabilities.
- Prepare technical documents to support informed decision making by client stakeholders regarding changes and upgrades to their infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate records of your activities.
Objectives
This apprenticeship has been crafted to develop a competent infrastructure technician with the following capabilities
- Attain an Information Communications Technician qualification at Level 3
- Complete routine tasks such as patching autonomously with > 80% success rate
- Build, configure and commission devices to defined standards with >90% accuracy
- Install, configure and commission software and firmware with >90% accuracy
- Verify your own work and the work of colleagues with >90% accuracy
- Triage new issues and enquiries with >65% assignment accuracy
- Investigate and diagnose routine issues with >65% accuracy
- Research authoritative sources of knowledge to support investigations, diagnoses and resolutions with >65% relevance to subject matter.
- Follow a structured problem-solving methodology for >65% success in root cause analysis
- Document user needs, functional requirements, performance requirements and associated verification methods.

If this describes you, we will support your development with:
Training:
- Access to the online ICT Apprenticeship provided by ESTIO, during normal working hours.
- This is a Level 3 Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship (ST0973, version 1.2, Digital Communications Technician option)
We will also provide Hands-On, Mentored experience in:
- Completing daily, weekly, monthly infrastructure and security routines.
- Developing automatic and semi-automatic routines to add value to service delivery using scripts or (system management) product features.
- Applying a meticulous approach to building, configuring and verifying servers, networks and user devices.
- Applying a structured problem-solving method to investigate, diagnose and fix infrastructure issues.
- Understanding the value of analysis and evidence to assure quality, support system changes and introduce new technology.
Qualifications
At least
GCSE English >= grade 4 (C)
GCSE Mathematics >= grade 4 (C)
Experience
Able to describe hobbyist activities building computer hardware, authoring software or configuring network devices.
Or
Experience working in an IT support environment > 6 months

Eligibility & Background Checks
Candidates must be UK based and have the right to work in the UK.
Visa sponsorship will not be available.
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Successful candidates will be required to sign and comply with a Non-Disclosure Agreement.
This role will be subject to a 3-month probation period.
Training to be provided:
Estio apprenticeship training programmes are delivered virtually by our fully qualified and industry experienced training team. Using their expert knowledge, we’ve purposefully built our programmes around the real-world use of modern technology, so that the skills we create can be directly applied in the workplace.
Throughout the apprenticeship learners receive coaching, help and guidance from a dedicated team who are there to ensure they get the most from their work experience.
Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Information Communications Technician, with training in how to:
- Efficiently operate and control your ICT infrastructure – physical or virtual hardware, software, network services and data storage.
- Use infrastructure management tools to automate the provisioning, testing, deployment and monitoring of infrastructure components.
- Prioritise systems support tasks and monitor and maintaining system performance.
- Maintain regulatory, legal and professional standards.
- Support the information systems needs for your business.
