Job Description:

Estio Training is thrilled to offer a new opportunity for a 1st Line Apprentice Support Engineer based in Stafford.

Role Summary:

This is an opportunity to join a UK firm with over 20 years’ experience in various areas of IT, from development and support of their own lines of successful network security and digital display products to running managed services supporting Windows and Linux server environments.

Key Responsibilities:

As an IT Apprentice your main roles and responsibilities will include:

As a 1st Line Support Engineer, in addition to opening and investigating tickets, you will be expected to help perform a number of duties on servers and systems, these include:

  • Responding to monitoring of systems, investigate and escalate if required
  • Checking systems are updated and that automated updates have been applied
  • Testing internal and client systems and software where required
  • Other regular checks to systems, servers and networks

This is not a typical call centre, you will not spend all day on the phone, but you will be expected to answer calls and handle appropriately.

An ideal 1st Line Support Engineer will hold the following skills and experiences:

  • You will be a team player with a passion for IT
  • Ideally you will have experience (or at least knowledge) of logging and responding to tickets or incidents both over the phone and via an email-based system
  • You will have some experience of hardware and software-based issues.

Qualifications:

  • You should have a good GCSE or equivalent in English and knowledge of other languages maybe a bonus.

  • Use infrastructure management tools to automate the provisioning, testing, deployment and monitoring of infrastructure components.
  • Prioritise systems support tasks and monitor and maintaining system performance.
  • Maintain regulatory, legal and professional standards.
  • Support the information systems needs for your business.
