Brief job description:
Estio Training is thrilled to offer a new opportunity for a Field Engineer Apprentice with TDM Group Limited, a Managed IT Service provider.
Role Summary:
To provide 1st and 2nd line support and to help deliver projects onsite at our client-partner sites.
Whilst being supported and supervised you will be trained to carry out:
- Software installations: typically Windows Server, Linux and Windows Desktop versions.
- Hardware installations and racking: servers, thin clients, storage devices and switches.
- Initial troubleshooting for hardware failure.
- PC/laptop hardware support.
- PC/laptop rollouts.
- Office move projects.
- Installation, termination, testing and labelling of cross connects in our Data Centre or other facilities.
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
As a Field Engineer Apprentice you will:
Configuration – all aspects of desktop/server hardware installation and builds, delivery to client-partner environment.
- Working in data centres to install new rack, servers, storage and network devices.
- Repairing or troubleshooting faulty equipment, installing and configuring hardware and software.
- Resolving first line user support requests onsite and over the phone.
- Responsible for travelling to client sites, in and around England, to deal with issues which require an onsite presence and for project works.
- You will be required to play an active role in the team, remaining flexible to support others in busy periods and be prepared for working long periods away from home. Long journey times may also be involved.
- Work as part of a team to deliver projects.
Qualifications:
- 5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)
Skills Required:
- Good hardware knowledge – PC’s, laptops, servers and printers.
- Good understanding of Windows and MAC operating systems, and mobile devices.
Personal qualities:
- Enthusiastic about IT.
- Effective team player.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Able to effectively communicate at all levels of an organisation.
- Confident and proactive approach to work.
- Attention to detail.
- Versatile and adaptable.
Future Prospects:
This role offers the potential for a permanent position upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, contingent on performance.

Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Information Communications Technician, with training in how to:
- Efficiently operate and control your ICT infrastructure – physical or virtual hardware, software, network services and data storage.
- Use infrastructure management tools to automate the provisioning, testing, deployment and monitoring of infrastructure components.
- Prioritise systems support tasks and monitor and maintaining system performance.
- Maintain regulatory, legal and professional standards.
- Support the information systems needs for your business.
