About the Company:

Carlton Academy Trust is a Bradford-based Trust established in 2019, emerging from the remarkable success of its founding school, Carlton Bolling. In 2014, Carlton Bolling was placed in Special Measures, with a reputation that earned it the label of “The Most Broken School in the Country.” However, a rapid and transformative journey led to the school being rated ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED in 2017, less than two years after being in Special Measures.

Building on this success, Carlton Bolling earned the prestigious World Class Schools Quality Mark in 2018 and was named ‘Secondary School of the Year’ at the 2019 BBC/Pearson National Teaching Awards.

This extraordinary turnaround inspired the establishment of Carlton Academy Trust, aimed at extending support to more schools and sharing the expertise developed through this period. The Trust has since grown rapidly, now overseeing three secondary, three primary and three specials schools, supporting nearly 5000 students and employing over 980 staff. In 2022, the Trust was recognised as one of the country’s first ‘World Class Trusts’ by the World Class Schools Quality Mark.

Our mission, ‘Excellence For All’, reflects a commitment to the highest standards. While our goals are ambitious – ensuring all schools within the Trust are rated ‘Outstanding’ – we focus on sustainable growth, limiting expansion to around 15 schools. This approach allows us to concentrate our resources effectively and provide the dedicated support our schools need to meet these high standards.
