What is an apprenticeship?

Do apprentices get paid?
Yes. Apprentices are paid employees, with a legal minimum salary and often higher depending on the employer.
Do I need experience?
No. Motivation matters more than experience. You’ll be trained from day one.
How many hours will I work?
Most apprentices work 30–40 hours per week. This includes time spent on training.
Is an apprenticeship full-time?
Yes. An apprenticeship is a full-time job with learning built in.
How long does an apprenticeship take?
Typically 12–24 months, depending on the level and programme.
What qualifications do I need?
Minimum entry requirements vary by level, but most require:

GCSE Maths OR
A willingness to complete Functional Skills during the programme
