This International Women’s Day, theme theme is #BalanceForBetter. Working with the technology industry, we see a need for balance, with just 17% of those that work within the technology industry in the UK identifying as female.
We believe that apprenticeships are a fantastic vehicle to offer the opportunity for many more women to enter into this industry. In the last three months we have raised the amount of women currently on an apprenticeship with Estio from 21% to 26%, and we intend to keep these figures rising till we achieve balance.
We invited Amy Sample, a Service Desk Analyst at G4S who is currently on a Level 3 Infrastructure Technician apprenticeship, and Chloe Martin, a Information Apprentice (Data Scientist) who has completed a Level 3 Software Development Technician apprenticeship and has progressed onto a Level 4 Data Analytics apprenticeship, down to our head quarters in Leeds, to discuss their apprenticeship and what it’s like to be Women In Tech in today’s climate.
Our Account Delivery Director, Fiona Baxter, has worked for many years within the Software Development industry, and has offered some perspective on how the industry has changed over the years.
